Fiorentina Women beat Verona to record third straight win

The Viola fought back to win 3-1 and move up to fifth in the table

10 October 2021

Fiorentina Women made it three wins from three with a 3-1 defeat of Hellas Verona in Vigasio on Sunday.

The result means Fiorentina move up to fifth place on nine points for the season.

Patrizia Panico’s side found themselves behind after 19 minutes’ play, after Lineth Cedeño poked the ball past Katja Schroffenegger to give Hellas a 1-0 lead.

Fiorentina were level before the break, however, with Sara Baldi popping up at the back post to head home Claudia Neto’s corner on 37 minutes.

The Viola built on that goal after the restart and were ahead just after the hour mark, when Karin Lundin’s low ball across goal was inadvertently turned into her own net by Caterina Ambrosi.

And the turnaround was complete on 77 minutes, as Lundin collected Daniela Sabatino’s cross from the right before dispatching the ball for 3-1.

Fiorentina are next in action on 31 October, when AC Milan visit Tuscany.
