Vanoli: “Nothing is impossible”

Fiorentina head coach Paolo Vanoli delivered a press conference ahead of his side’s match against Inter, which kicks off at 12:30 CET this Sunday in Milan.

Here’s some of what our boss touched upon during his meeting with the press:

COMO - “We did well against [Cesc] Fabregas’ side. We always need to send a positive message to the fans whenever we play. However, I’m a bit worried because we’re yet to take the lead this season, and we’ve shipped 17 goals in the process. We need to become a team that’s capable of creating chances and scoring.”

ARTHUR ATTA AND LUCA RANIERI - “They won’t be available for the match in Milan. As I’ve already mentioned, Artur is continuing his recovery process, and we’re gradually bringing Luca back into the fold as well.”

DODO - “I’ve always said that’s he’s capable of getting into the starting eleven, and the same goes any of his team-mates.”

INTER - “I don’t need to explain to you what Inter is all about. We’ll need to put in the perfect performance. That being said, nothing is impossible, provided we all go out there keen to achieve something big, regardless of where we’re playing.”

DAVID DE GEA - “There’s no questioning De Gea. He’s my captain.”

CHER NDOUR - “Cher starts because he’s earned it. Through his hard work, he’s proven to be an excellent talent who’s capable of improving even further. He’s becoming an important player for us.”

FRANCO MASTANTUONO - “He always embraces challenges. He’s the only player who can dictate the tempo for the team.”

IDENTITY - “Only through hard work will we strike the right balance between the various positions on the pitch. Right now, we need to figure out how to defend better. It’s also vital that we learn how to manage our own desire to win, because we need to show more composure throughout the 90 minutes.”

SUPPORT - “I’ve got a top-class sporting director. He’s someone who can help me reach a higher level.”

CHRIST OULAI - “When he gets his chance he’ll have to seize it with both hands. It’s as simple as that.”

THREE-MAN DEFENSE - “I was raised by masters of the three-man defense. That being said, formations are just numbers these days. Our long-term path is to deploy a four-man defense, but we can still revert to a three-man setup when building up play.”
