After a deadlocked first half, Fiorentina conceded a goal scored by Parma’s Oliver Sorensen early in the second half and then failed to equalise, also thanks to Edoardo Corvi’s excellent saves.
The first half of the match was very balanced. In the 32nd minute, Jacob Ondrejka fired an effort in the box after a goalmouth scramble, but he scuffed his shot wide. Then this very slow first half drew to a close: Fiorentina and Parma both tried to take the lead, without however leaving themselves exposed or conceding too much. Then in the 48th minute, Parma’s Oliver Sorensen headed it in, after beating Dodo and Niccolo Fortini to the ball and sending it past David De Gea.
Fiorentina were awarded a penalty kick in the 63rd minute, following a corner kick. Pietro Comuzzo stepped up to take it, but Corvi miraculously saved it.
In the 82nd minute Albert Gudmundsson crossed it to Roberto Piccoli, who was unmarked, but he did not connect cleanly. Gudmundsson took another shot from the edge of the box in the 93rd minute, which was also denied by Corvi.
