Fiorentina faced Nottingham Forest on Tuesday evening, playing out a 0-0 draw.
Stefano Pioli opted to make wholesale changes, starting with an ambitious attacking trio of Albert Gudmundsson, Edin Dzeko and Moise Kean.
The first chance of the game fell to Callum Hudson-Odoi, but David de Gea parried the ball out for a corner. At the end of the first half Fiorentina had a great goalscoring opportunity but Brazilian star Dodo hit the crossbar with a lob effort.
The second half began at the same pace as the first. The away side upped the ante but were unable to find a breakthrough. The scores stayed level thanks in part to the excellent work by both teams’ defenses, who were alert and tight throughout.
With ten minutes to go Cher Ndour tried his luck with a left-footed strike from the edge of the box, but the ball went high and wide. Fiorentina had another great chance through Riccardo Braschi, but Forest keeper Matz Sels pulled off a top save.
The match then ended 0-0. Now the focus is on the club’s final match of their UK tour against Manchester United before the team returns to Tuscany to further preparations for the Conference League playoff double-header.
