Fiorentina suffered their first pre-season defeat as they lost 2-0 to Leicester in the first of three friendlies on their UK tour.

Stefano Pioli made plenty of changes, including bringing Niccolo Fortini and Matteo Viti into the line-up after their individual training programs.

The hosts took the lead after 30 minutes. Abdul Fatawu broke forward at pace and picked out Bilal El Khannouss before the ball found its way to Jordan Ayew via a deflection and the striker tucked away from close range.

Fatawu added a second for the Foxes six minutes later with a curling finish inside the far post that Tommaso Martinelli could do nothing about.

In the second half, Nicolo Fagioli, Lucas Beltran and Jacopo Fazzini all got themselves into shooting positions but were unable to hit the target.

Midway through the half, Martinelli made two saves in quick succession to keep the scoreline intact, while in the final minutes Edin Dzeko saw an audacious long-distance lob sail over the bar.

Fiorentina's next match is against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, when they will meet up with Nikola Milenkovic again.
