The first time Fiorentina and Pisa met was all the way back on October 3, 1926 and it was actually our first-ever competitive game, in Matchday 1 of Prima Divisione Group C. The Viola ran out 3-1 winners, defeating the team that had finished as Italian runners-up just five years earlier.
Rodolfo Volk scored Fiorentina's first-ever goal and was the star of our maiden campaign, going on to notch 11 goals.
Pisa have only beaten Fiorentina once in 14 top-flight meetings – a 2-1 victory in November 1987) and have failed to score in the last five. There have also been six draws and seven Viola wins.

Stefano Pioli has faced Pisa four times without losing (W3, D1) and won one and drawn one of his two meetings with Alberto Gilardino (when he was in charge of AC Milan).
