Throughout the years, there have been 159 matches between Fiorentina and Bologna, resulting in 62 wins for Fiorentina, 47 wins for Bologna and 50 draws. Fiorentina have scored a total of 212 goals, Bologna 178. Kurt Hamrin is the top goal-scorer with 11 goals, followed by Hector Puricelli and Giuseppe Savoldi, who each have eight.

The last match between the two teams was held in May, with Fiorentina winning 3-2 thanks to goals from Fabiano Parisi, Amir Richardson and Moise Kean.

Various players have played the Apennine derby for both teams:

Marco Baroni debuted for Fiorentina in the 1981/82 season and then joined Bologna for two seasons, until the club declared bankruptcy.

Roberto Baggio played for Fiorentina for five seasons (and also made his Serie A debut while at Fiorentina) and then joined Bologna in the 1997/98 season.

Gianluca Luppi rose through the ranks at Bologna, with the team moving up from Serie C1 to Serie A over the years. He then played for three years for Fiorentina, from 1992 to 1995.

Christian Amoroso was a Fiorentina player for five years and then joined Bologna, where he stayed until 2009.

Alberto Gilardino played for Fiorentina for four years, with many great moments like scoring the winning goal at Anfield in the Champions League. He then moved to Bologna for just one year.

Others played different yet always crucial roles in the two clubs. Gabriele Oriali ended his playing career in Florence and was Bologna’s Technical Director for two years.

Pantaleo Corvino was first the Technical Director of Fiorentina, then of Bologna and finally returned to Florence in 2016.

Stefano Pioli is Fiorentina’s current coach, having previously coached the team from 2017 to 2019, but he also coached Bologna from 2011 to 2014.

Bologna was the first team Sinisa Mihajlovic ever coached, joining the club in 2008. He returned to Bologna in 2019, but in between he also managed Fiorentina for just a few months.

Hermann Felsner is a true hero in the city of Bologna, as the club won four league titles in his 11 years as coach. He also coached Fiorentina from 1931 to 1933.

Vincenzo Italiano, Bologna’s current coach, coached Fiorentina from 2021 to 2024, and then joined Bologna last season, winning the 2024/25 Coppa Italia.
