There was nothing to separate Fiorentina and Milan in their Scudetto Pool match on Sunday, with the game finishing 1-1 and earning each side a point.

The Viola attempted to get off to a flying start as Milica Mijatovic looked to test Selena Babb early on, but her shot went over the bar. The game failed to pick up pace and neither team could find the break-through until Veronica Boquete was brought down in the area after a bad clash with Babb on 36 minutes. The Rossonere goalkeeper came off worse and had to be stretchered off the pitch. In her place, Laura Giuliani was thrown right into the thick of it as she attempted to save the resulting penalty. However, she could do nothing to stop Boquete’s effort which went in via the post and gave Fiorentina the lead.

While Fiorentina dominated the final period of the first half, the second half was all about Milan. On 51 minutes, Chante Dompig latched on to a ball in the box and managed to put it past Rachele Baldi. Milan tried to get another through Martina Piemonte but Fiorentina’s defence held strong. In the final moments of the game, two great chances fell to the Viola but neither Michela Catena nor Miriam Longo could beat Giuliani.

With a final score of 1-1, the teams remain one point apart in the league. Inter are up next for Fiorentina, with their fixture kicking off at 12:30 CEST at Stadio Ernesto Breda.
