Fiorentina have been drawn against Maccabi Haifi in the Europa League round of 16.

The first leg will be played at Budapest's Bozsik ArenA on March 7 with the return leg scheduled for March 14 at the Stadio Franchi. 

- Maccabi Haifa will be the first Israeli opponents the Viola have ever faced in European competition.

- Fiorentina will be the fourth Italian team Maccabi Haifa have played against, after Parma, Livorno and Juventus. The Israelis have recorded two wins and four defeats – scoring seven and conceding five – in their six previous meetings with Italian opposition.

- The last time Maccabi Haifa took on a side from Italy in European competition was Juventus in last season's Champions League, winning one and losing one against the Bianconeri.

- In 18 previous encounters between teams from Italy and Israel, there have been nine Italian victories, six Israeli triumphs and three draws. The most recent draw was between Livorno and Maccabi Haifa in the 2006/07 UEFA Cup.
