Marco Benassi spoke of the importance of team spirit as he appeared at a press conference at Fiorentina’s pre-season training camp in Moena on Wednesday.

On his fitness…

“Last year was a tough one for me from a footballing perspective – I had several fitness issues. What counts is that I’m finally fit now and have found some consistency.”

On his future…

“I’m here and giving everything I have in every training session. My aim is definitely to stay in Florence.”

On his objectives…

“I’ll do everything I can to give the coach a headache. If we all show unity and stick together, we can achieve great results.”

On the young players in the squad…

“I can see they’re hungry and willing, as well as having excellent individual quality.”

On Dusan Vlahovic…

“Despite being on loan at Verona last year, I still watched every Fiorentina game. Dusan showed incredible improvement. He’s been getting better from the first day he arrived. If he keeps it up, he can become a top player.”

On Vincenzo Italiano…

“There’s been a great vibe there since the first day. We bought into his philosophy straight away and that’s a great start.”
