Galloppa and Mandragora speak to the press pre-Mainz

Daniele Galloppa and Rolando Mandragora spoke to the media in the Mewa Arena press room on the eve of the Europa Conference League clash with Mainz. Here is what they had to say…

Daniele Galloppa

On expectations:

“The club asked me to bring enthusiasm and passion to the players. I’ve seen great commitment among the group and I’m feeling very comfortable. I hope we can put in a strong performance tomorrow.”

On what he can bring to the team:
“I’m at a point where there’s a lot to do, which gives me great motivation. I’ve missed being on the pitch and I want to help the players understand that when they’re out there, they’re free. They need to remember how beautiful it is to be able to run on the field.
I take inspiration from Spalletti and Capello, who both coached me, but I don’t want to copy anyone.”

On what kind of Fiorentina we’ll see tomorrow:
“Martinelli will play against Mainz and there will be some rotation, but tactically we won’t change much because there hasn’t been time. If I had changed too much, it might have seemed like I was trying to put myself ahead of the players and that’s not the case.
I just hope to see a different attitude. The team isn’t happy with the results so far.”

On the future:
“I’m not thinking about what the club will decide for the dugout. I’m only focused on helping the team and giving my all.”

Rolando Mandragora

On being bottom of the table:
“We didn’t expect to be in this situation. We need to respond with enthusiasm and humility. We have to deliver both performances and results.”
