In what was Fiorentina Women’s last match before returning to competitive action they were defeated 1-0 by Lazio, with former Viola stars Martina Piemonte and Margherita Monnecchi taking center stage. 

Both sides had their share of chances, but Monnecchi won the match for Lazio in the 37^th minute, responding first to the rebound from Clarisse Le Bihan’s missed penalty.

All eyes are now on next weekend when the season finally kicks off with our first match in the Serie A Women's Cup. Fiorentina takes on Como while Genoa and Inter face off in the other group match. Kick-off is Saturday August 23, at 18:30 CEST.
