Luca Montenegro, a midfielder born in 2007 who joined the club last July, featured on the latest episode of Viola Futuro. Here’s some of what the player had to say:

“My agent told me about Fiorentina’s interest. As soon as I heard the club wanted to sign me I was really excited.

“Being part of the first team for a short time was great. I got a goal against Grosseto and it felt amazing.

“I’m proud [to follow in my grandfather Gaetano Montenegro’s footsteps]. He always tells me that I need to outdo him, but it’s going to be hard.

“I get on really well with the coach. I bedded in quickly and I’m really grateful for how I was received.

“Florence is a beautiful city. Viola Park is huge and I feel lucky to be here.

“I’m a quiet guy who keeps himself to himself. I like to listen to other people and learn.

“My dream is to play at the highest level. In five years’ time I don’t know where I’ll be, but I hope to have a successful career in football.”
