Preparing for Napoli v Fiorentina: match, insights, referee and previous encounters

This week’s report on the team ahead of their away game against Napoli.

Following their defeat to Como in Coppa Italia, Fiorentina went straight back to training to prepare for their important match against Napoli, who will be facing Chelsea in their Champions League game on Wednesday.

Paolo Vanoli’s Fiorentina started preparing for the game at Viola Park: those who played against Como did recovery work at the gym and on the pitch, while the other players focused more on fitness work.

The match, scheduled for Saturday at 18:00 CET at the Stadio Maradona, will be officiated by Federico La Penna, while Luigi Nasca and Gianluigi Aureliano will be on VAR duty.

Napoli have won all the past three Serie A games against Fiorentina, after winning just one of the previous five, with the others being two draws and two losses.

The last time Napoli won at least four consecutive games against Fiorentina was between December 1988 and October 1990, a run of five victories.

Since Vanoli became the Fiorentina coach, only Inter (213) and Juventus (192) have attempted more shots than Fiorentina (181) in Serie A, with an average of 15 shots per game.

The Viola are also the team with the most crosses from open play with 207, averaging 17 per match.

They are now completely focused on their upcoming game against Antonio Conte’s team.
