Fiorentina v Sassuolo: facts, referee and match history

After a two-day break granted by coach Paolo Vanoli after Fiorentina’s away match against Lecce, the team have returned to training to prepare for their next Serie A match. The Viola will host Fabio Grosso’s Sassuolo at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, with the game scheduled for Sunday at 12:30 CEST. Livio Marinelli will oversee the game.

The past two Serie A clashes between Fiorentina and Sassuolo have ended with an impressive average of five goals in total, six scored by the Viola and four by Sassuolo. In 10 out of 11 of the past Serie A matches, there has been at least one goal.

Fiorentina have won the last two Serie A home matches; they have beaten Sassuolo at home three times in a row only once before in the league, a streak achieved between 2016 and 2017.

Sassuolo are currently at 45 points after 33 matches played this season. Over the last 10 seasons, no newly promoted team has ever fared better at this stage of the season. Monza also collected 45 points in the 2022/23 season.

Fiorentina’s last eight goals in the league have all been scored by different players: Fabiano Parisi, Roberto Piccoli, Dodo, Albert Gudmundsson, Cher Ndour, Nicolo Fagioli, Robin Gosens and Jack Harrison. On the other hand, the previous six goals had all been netted by only three Fiorentina players.

The Viola have been training very hard in the gym and on the pitch, with athletic conditioning followed by technical and tactical drills.
