Coach Paolo Vanioli and forward Roberto Piccoli faced the media ahead of Fiorentina’s second leg Conference League match against Jagiellonia. Here’s some of what they had to say:
VANOLI
SECOND LEG - "We want to make it to the next round and approach this second leg with the right mentality. From experience I can say that whenever I’ve won a trophy it’s because my mentality was on point. I believe that winning breeds winning. However, we need to improve. Against Pisa we had chances to see out the game and we squandered them. This shouldn't happen."
DANIELE RUGANI - "He needs to play and get into the swing on things. We're organising a training match especially for him."
MOMENTUM - "We're running better and working as a team. We're on the right track, but we need to learn to defend well with and without the ball."
ADRIAN SIEMIENIEC - "He's an interesting coach. Jagiellonia play good football and press well. I really like taking in other teams’ work. In the first leg our performance was fantastic and focused, and that limited Jagiellonia."
UEFA SQUAD LIST - "Some difficult decisions were taken but we made the right choices."
PIETRO COMUZZO - "He’s a young player who can only improve. He's a complete defender. He needs to improve technically, which he will. Pietro is an important cornerstone of the Fiorentina project."
PICCOLI:
FOCUS - "It will be important to play as a team, to win and then to focus calmly on our league match against Udinese."
GROWTH - "I feel good and naturally much more at home within the Fiorentina family now. I've settled in well and this helps me on the pitch."
CONFERENCE LEAGUE - "It’s an important competition. We must try to win every match, reach the final and claim glory."
FULL-BACKS - "The new signings have settled in well - they help us a lot. The full-backs certainly give us additional support in attack."
