Francesco Magnanelli joined Fiorentina when he was 19 years old. That was back in the 2003/04 season and at the time the team was playing in Serie B. the midfielder failed to make his debut there, but he then played for Sassuolo for over fifteen years and became a club legend.
Alessandro Matri, on the other hand, did play for the Fiorentina first team, after joining the club on loan in the second half of the 2013/14 season. After making 21 appearances and scoring five goals, the player returned to Milan and, between 2016 and 2019, played for Sassuolo.
Jasmin Kurtic played in Reggio Emilia from 2013 to 2015, though he had two loan spells in between: first he joined Torino and then Fiorentina (while in Florence he also scored a goal against Atalanta).
Babacar rose through the ranks of the Fiorentina youth academy and made his debut in 2010, starting the match and scoring his first goal, thereby becoming the youngest Fiorentina player to ever score at the professional level.
After various experiences at Sassuolo, such as his debuts in Serie B and then in Serie A, Diego Falcinelli joined Fiorentina in 2018, making a total of 12 appearances.
Pol Lirola made his debut in the Europa League in 2016 and also scored Sassuolo’s first ever goal in a European competition. He joined the Tuscan team in 2019 and during those two years at Fiorentina he scored a goal in the Coppa Italia game against Atalanta, which ended with a 2-1 win.
Kevin-Prince Boateng joined Sassuolo in 2018 and scored five goals. He switched to Fiorentina the following year and played for the team until January 2019.
Alfred Duncan’s five seasons and over 100 appearances at Sassuolo convinced Fiorentina to sign him. He played for them up until last year and scored a total of six goals.
In 2023 Mattia Viti, who joined Fiorentina that summer and still plays for the team as a defender, was transferred on loan to Sassuolo. He also scored his first Serie A goal on the final matchday of that season.
