Stefano Pioli was interviewed following Fiorentina’s 3-0 win over Rapid Vienna in the Conference League. Here’s some of what he had to say:

“It certainly does a lot of good for the group standings, and it’s very important because if we finish high up then we’ll be able to ease off further down the line. As we’re yet to win in the league this really helps. I asked my players to play with determination, ferocity and focus. We performed well, albeit with a few mistakes. Let’s take this into our upcoming league matches.

“In sport, mentality makes a huge difference. Our attitude for matches as of late has been good. We performed well tonight but we’ll face better opponents, with all due respect.

“Of course we’re really happy with the result, but we have to focus on the league from tomorrow because it’s clear that we have to dig ourselves out of the hole we’re in. We’ll need a lot of focus. Our next two opponents are top class – we’ll have to withstand the pressure and know how to cope.”
