Roberto Piccoli was interviewed following the match between Bologna and Fiorentina.
Yours was a very good performance: you scored a goal, honoring President Rocco Commisso.
“We talked before the match and we really wanted to win this one for our president. Life can sometimes be unfair. He will be sorely missed by Fiorentina fans and the club. He gave so much to Fiorentina because he built so much. Our job will be to try to honor him in every match. “
It was an important, well-deserved win. You’ve been playing very well in the past couple of games.
“We played a great first half. Cher [Ndour]’s goal was disallowed because it was offside by a matter of centimeters. So it could’ve been 3-0, which to me would’ve been an even fairer result. We played most of the second half well and suffered a bit towards the end, which is normal. They were playing at home and kept pushing, but we fought back. We’re a solid team, and most importantly we’re a team.”
You’re growing a lot. You really needed today’s goal, wouldn’t you say?
“Scoring after a few goalless matches is important for a striker because it helps you regain your confidence and you feel freer mentally. However, my priority today was for the team to play well. In modern football, a striker needs to be good at attacking as well as defending. Then of course a striker is paid to score and that needs to happen.
“I feel good anyway. It took some time to settle in, since I arrived from another club. I still need some time to fully settle in, but it’s going well and I want to achieve a lot personally and for Fiorentina.”
