Raffaele Palladino made the following comments' after Fiorentina battled to a 3-2 win over Bologna:
“Today was very important for the players' morale and they deserve it because we suffered two huge disappointments in the last week and they were very down about it.
“We were up against a great team and Bologna were buoyed after winning the Coppa Italia. We were missing lots of players and changed formation but the guys did everything I asked of them from the start of the week. Together we prepared for this match and my players gave a huge performance so this is their victory. It's the victory of a team that never gives up and puts everything into it. They deserved this win.
“We understand the fans' disappointment and we have to accept it. We need to work hard and give our all for the club and the fans. The players worked their socks off today, from the first minute to the last, and they've always done that.
“Of course we're upset that two weeks ago we were in the running for a Champions League place then when it came to the crunch we were without lots of players: [Moise] Kean, Dodo, [Robin] Gosens, lots of injuries... At the most important stage of the season we had lots of players missing and that's not an excuse but a fact. That's our regret this season. We're still in the running. It's not in our hands anymore but if we win in Udine and others slip up we can still get into Europe. We'll keep giving our all till the very last second.”
