The boss reacted to his team’s impressive 1-0 win over Atalanta on Sunday afternoon.

“If we’ve reached this stage of the season with two months to go, still fighting for a place in Europe next season and in the quarter-finals of the Conference League, it’s because the journey we’ve been on since the start has been a positive one, going back to our pre-season training camp. We’ve worked hard, and our planning has been in place.

“We brought in the right players, so I’d like to thank the club because I’ve been given a squad with great technical quality and physical attributes. It’s also a fantastic group of lads and our success is down to everything we’ve done together.

“It’s true that we’ve often made changes during the season, both in terms of our system and other aspects, but it’s all the result of our hard work on a daily basis, which has earned us our current league position and performance level.

“We always put in these kinds of displays against the top sides and obviously, we’re pleased about that. But we need to maintain the same level of concentration against teams lower in the standings. That’s what I’ve asked the players to do because we have two key months ahead of us. We have the cup and the final stretch of the season, so we must hold onto this excitement and magical feeling.

“We’ve had two fantastic weeks, showing brilliant team spirit. We’re all smiles and full of confidence, which is great. Now, we need to keep our feet on the ground and maintain the right attitude. That’s what will take us far.”
