Palladino: "What a fantastic evening"

Raffaele Palladino faced the press after his side’s 3-1 win over Panathinaikos in the Conference League.

“I wouldn’t call this game the turning point but we really wanted to win. We won and fully deserved to do so. We’re happy because it was a great night. I’d like to thank the fans. The players deserve credit – they put in a great first half. Once again in the second half we dropped deep, unfortunately, but our aim is to be consistent throughout the whole 90 minutes. Aside from that, I’m really happy with the win.”

“Tonight’s victory has given us some breathing space. It was a wonderful evening and we need to channel this energy into Sunday. We’ll try and put in a top performance.”

“The lads were really fired up for this game after the first leg. I could see it in their eyes. They were really keen to turn the result around and performed fantastically this evening.”

“I pick up something every day. This season has been a learning experience and I’m happy to have done this alongside my fantastic players. We’ll keep on working hard because the more we work together the better we’ll be.”

“I don’t like to single players out but regarding [Albert] Gudmundsson, he’s best when he’s free to roam and find the position on the field that suits him. We need to incorporate him well. [Danilo] Cataldi, [Nicolo] Fagioli, and [Rolando] Mandragora were excellent. The team as a whole did everything I asked of them.”
