Regarding today’s statement by the Municipality of Florence about the Stadio Franchi, ACF Fiorentina wishes to clarify that in recent days, the Municipality has provided information on the progress of the works and delays that are already expected till the end of 2026.

The club can only express its dissatisfaction and surprise, given the consistent cooperation it has always shown. For example, by making the stadium available from the end of May until mid-September this year.

Further potential measures have also been outlined for the second phase of construction, which, at this point, could still require the team to spend several months away from the Franchi.  Such scenarios inevitably cause concern and regret. In light of the latest information provided, and as already communicated to the Municipality, the conditions for Fiorentina’s possible involvement in the project will need to be reassessed. 

The club also remains deeply disappointed at not having been able to build the New Franchi stadium that President Commisso had planned to finance entirely at his own expense in 2019, only to later acknowledge that such a project was never permitted.

The Stadio Franchi, which has already been a construction site since February 2024, will remain so with all the ensuing sporting and financial difficulties certainly throughout the 2026/27 season, the club’s centenary year.
