Cher Ndour, who scored Fiorentina’s opening goal against Rapid Vienna in his side’s 3-0 away triumph in the Conference League, shared his thoughts on the success:

“It was a very difficult match against a top team. The atmosphere was electric and their fans made things difficult. It was windy and rainy and the game could’ve ended up getting scrappy. We did really well. We started off strongly and kept the ball well. We attacked well, finding the right spaces. I’m very happy for scoring and winning.

“Before the game the coach asked us to play with character. He asked us to be competitive. I think we all showed that – both the starters and the subs. We’re on the right track and we need to keep this up.

“Winning is all about confidence and self-belief. We can use today’s performance as a starting point and try and put in a great performance against Bologna so we can get our first league win.

“Once we took the lead it was important to avoid making the same mistakes – by that I mean dropping deep and giving the opposition too much initiative. I’m always happy to do the dirty work.”
