Ndour: "We're growing by the game"

This is what Cher Ndour had to say about Fiorentina's derby victory over Pisa on Monday:

“It's a massive win for us. We said during the week that this match was worth much more than three points – because it's a derby and because we wanted to haul ourselves out of the relegation spots after the results at the weekend. We're happy but we have to immediately refocus and think about the next target, which is to reach the next round of the Conference League.

“We don't have much time but I don't think you feel the fatigue in a match like this – or maybe it only hits you at the end! We played well today. We dominated the first half then in the second they made a few changes and it took us a while to figure out how we needed to adapt, but we gave very few chances away and created more ourselves. We all defended as a team and we're delighted with the result.

“We had more of the ball in the first half and perhaps less in the second but we stayed compact. We're a very close-knit group no matter who plays and who doesn't – today we saw Robin [Gosens] egging everyone on and celebrating on the bench. That's a sign of the unity within the team. We're growing by the game and we just need to keep going.

“We have to recover in time for Thursday now, which is a very important match for us. We have a decent lead but it doesn't mean much in Europe – we saw that for ourselves in the qualifiers against Polissya. We need to recuperate and prepare well for this game so that we can finish the job.”
