Ndour discusses Crystal Palace defeat

Read what Cher Ndour had to say at the end of Fiorentina v Crystal Palace.

Fiorentina really gave it their all tonight.

“We gave it everything on the pitch. We paid the price for the 3-0 defeat of the first leg, especially that third goal right at the end. However, we reacted very well, also tonight after we conceded the opener on the counter-attack. We equalized thanks to [Albert] Gudmundsson and then took the lead. We kept believing until the end. I think the fans also appreciated this attitude. I believe we put in a good performance and we can keep our heads held high. They’re a good team, but we did win tonight, thanks to our attitude and the quality of our game. Unfortunately, we didn’t complete the comeback, but again, we can keep our heads held high.”

You came on as a substitute and scored the goal that brought back hope.

“Yes, I think my goal created even more excitement. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough, but we need to build on what we did tonight. We must cherish the enthusiasm and support of the fans. We really appreciated the fact that they cheered us at the end of the match, as we gave it our all. I think that was what was most important tonight.

“Up next we have a crucial match on Monday for our league campaign. We must preserve the same attitude and grit we had tonight because if we put in a performance like tonight’s, we can finish the season well.”

Your next match will be away against Lecce.

“We must maintain this ambition and grit, what we showed tonight even after we conceded a goal. We could’ve given up, but instead we scored the equalizer and then took the lead. We had other chances that made us hope for a comeback. We must build on this ambition and play a great match on Monday.”
