Here is what Fiorentina coach Paolo Vanoli had to say after Fiorentina’s UEFA Conference League second-leg match against Jagiellonia.
It was a tough game, but Fiorentina made it to the Round of 16.
“It’s not what I wanted. The worst thing is that we lost some players due to injuries. And that’s the last thing I was hoping for, given our current position in the table.
“It’s another small step, but we need to understand that every international game is different. We were unable to understand this right away and made things harder for ourselves. Apart from the injuries, we got the job done and showed that we can handle these games physically. However, we wasted too much energy.”
Now you’re focused on your upcoming Serie A game against Udinese.
“Yes, now the players need to rest as much as possible because our next match in Udine will be against a very physical team. So now we need to recover and learn from this experience. We need to understand that international football requires a different mentality. The team needs to make a quantum leap.”
