“Firstly, I'd like to thank our fans because for the first time in a long time we saw our real stadium tonight.
"We thought we could pull off something incredible but at this level the small details make all the difference – and we saw that in the first leg especially. The players deserve credit for a great all-round performance. We showed the right mentality against a strong team and considering we only had two days' rest we played with incredible intensity.
"It's a shame about [Nicolo] Fagioli's mistake, which let them in on the counter. We need to be more careful in the defensive third. But apart from that we did well and we believed we could overturn the result. We managed to turned today's game around but we needed a bit more composure at the end and our subs weren't able to have a big enough impact.
“We knew Solomon didn't have 90 minutes in him after so long out. [Albert] Gudmundsson looked tired too.
“Our plan B was to get six players forward and put in more crosses with [Luis] Balbo, but we struggled to produce deliveries and muster a final onslaught. However, it was a great performance.
“The reason we lost the tie is not so much the missing players, because we've shown we're able to overcome that, but the individual mistakes we made, in the first leg especially. Obviously if we'd had everyone available, we would have had more options from the bench, but I must say all the kids who were brought in have contributed a lot, tonight as well.”
