Fabio Grosso spoke to the press after Fiorentina were beaten by Frosinone.
Below is a selection of his answers.
On the mental aspect: “We wanted to do something different on such a beautiful occasion as this but unfortunately we showed too many shortcomings. We're very upset and we have a lot of work to do. I told the lads to keep their chins up and we'll try to raise our game.”
On the match: “We saw a few glimpses today. We need to do more of the good things. We didn't have the right energy to score or to prevent them from scoring. We have lots of quality but we need to build a solid framework where we can lay out that quality.”
On the numbers: “We had quality but lacked solidity. If you look at the numbers, we should not have ended up with this scoreline but it means we weren't good enough or clinical enough to win it. We were lethargic at the end. I'm sure we'll get there.”
On the group: “There are a few days left until the transfer window closes. We'll look each other in the eyes and roll up our sleeves even more. The boos were understandable but I also want to remember the applause at the start. We must question ourselves and raise the bar if we are to obtain more. We have to work on the weaknesses we've showed on more than one occasion.”
On the defense: “You can't let your opponents get the upper hand. If you don't have foundations, then your quality is an end in itself. As a team, we must understand that if you want strong foundations you need a solid group.”
On the squad: “I know we need to improve a lot but it's too simplistic to just analyze one area. Soon we'll know who we'll be able to work with and how. The players need to move up a level because only then can we show the qualities we have.”
