Harrison strike earns point at Lecce

Fiorentina produced a battling second-half display to earn an important point against relegation-threatened Lecce on Monday evening.

The Viola took the lead in the first half when Jack Harrison cut inside his marker and curled a fine finish inside the far post. They might have gone in at the break two goals up but Roberto Piccoli couldn't quite get on the end of Dodo's cross.

In the second half the home side upped their game and it took a goal-line clearance from Marin Pongracic in the 54th minute to keep the scoreline intact.

Fifteen minutes later Lameck Banda was denied an equalizer by David De Dea's fingertip save, but from the resulting corner Tiago Gabriel headed past the keeper to make it 1-1.

Soon after Cher Ndour had the chance to restore the lead but his header flew just over the bar.

There was little else of note as the two teams had to settle for a draw. The result  puts Fiorentina on 36 points, eight ahead of Lecce and Cremonese, who are joint third from bottom.
