Piccoli pleased with 'perfect evening'

Roberto Piccoli discussed Fiorentina's dominant UEFA Conference League win against Jagiellonia, in which he scored the team's third from the penalty spot.

Fiorentina secured a big victory today.

“It was tough out there because the weather and the pitch which made it very hard to play football on, but we're pleased for ourselves and for our fans who came all this way in the cold – hats off to them. It was a perfect evening.”

You had a good old battle with their center-backs and then you won a penalty, which enabled you to wrap up the game.

“In the first half we were still trying to get the measure of the pitch and find our rhythm. In the second half we played well and when we attacked we created lots of dangerous openings.

“As for the penalty, I saw him coming and put my foot in front of the ball as I expected him to kick it. I'm happy for the team. This win is a big morale boost going into Monday's game, when we absolutely must win. Getting three points [against Pisa] is all that matters.”
