Giovanni Fabbian shared his thoughts after Fiorentina survived a scare to overcome Jagiellonia and reach the Conference League round of 16.
“It was a very strange game. We were a bit sluggish at the start but we did well to hang in there and then react, because it's never easy when games start like that. We came into this game with a lead but we knew it would be tough. We'll take our place in the draw for the next round and now we'll focus on the league again.”
The youngster then commented on his deflected goal, which ultimately proved to be the difference as Jagiellonia pulled one back with a few minutes remaining.
“I always try to get into good positions. Moise [Kean] got there first and took the shot. I put my leg out and it hit it. I got the final touch but the main thing is it went in. I'm happy to get on the score sheet and that we've gone through.”
The team will return to domestic action on Monday with a trip to Udinese – and the need to keep on picking up points to move out of the danger zone.
“We'll get back to work first thing and switch our attentions to Monday's game. We know it's not going to be easy, but nor are any of our remaining matches. We're stuck in this battle and we must keep fighting. We're a great team and I think we'll get out of it.
“I'm very happy here. Everyone's been really helpful and there's a great mood in the camp. We have to stick together and keep following the coach's instructions.”
