Stefano Pioli was officially unveiled to the media as Fiorentina's new coach at Viola Park's Wind Tre Media Center on Wednesday. Here's some of what he had to say:

FIORENTINA RETURN - “I'm very happy to be here. I've taken on this task with a great sense of responsibility. I have an excellent feeling. I've met lots of wonderful people and I've never seen a training facility quite on this level. I'm ready to get down to work with the guys and become stronger together.”

WHY FLORENCE? – “That's easy to answer: because I can feel Florence inside of me. From the very first phone call I got from the club, I felt something special deep down so it seemed like the right choice to make. We have a city that is dying to see us win.”

PRE-SEASON – “The first thing I noticed was how keen to knuckle down these players are – that's very important. We'll have a clearer picture of everything after the three friendlies in England. Now we need to focus on working calmly and well.”

GOALS - “The goals are to aim as high as possible and raise the bar by improving the players' technical and physical level. My staff and I will try to give the team balance and a playing style. I have a lot of energy and enthusiasm. We can do an excellent job.”

KEAN - “I've been in contact with Moise. I know he's very happy in Florence and he seems very relaxed.”

GUDMUNDSSON - “Albert is a player I'm counting on a lot. He's a fantastic footballer and mentally with it. I'll make the most of this time to get to know everyone better.”

FORMATION - “We'll attack and defend as a unit. There are no formations in the modern game”

DZEKO - “Edin is a top-class player and person. He's going to be a very important member of our team.”

COMMISSO - “I've spoken to the president several times. He wants Fiorentina to grow and he wants to make the fans happy. Commisso is a very sincere, open, upfront person.” 

CAPTAINCY – I've spoken to [Luca] Ranieri. He's grown a lot and is highly motivated. He will be an excellent Fiorentina captain.”

PROMISES - “Our fans are pure. I can promise them we'll always give our all because a united club and city can lead to victory. We want to earn our fans' support in every game.”

ASTORI – Davide obviously had a big impact on me and on us. He impacted the way we've all grown. I've always felt he's close by. We'll build a compact, close-knit team for him too.”
