Grosso's views ahead of Roma match

Fabio Grosso spoke to journalists at Rocco B. Commisso Viola Park's Wind3 Media Center on Sunday, the day before Fiorentina visit Roma for their opening match of the 2026/27 season.

FULL SQUAD – "Everyone is fit and available for selection. We're ready for a difficult match.”

A NEW START – "We're working with the club. Now the game against Roma is the most important thing. We have players in this squad who have already shown they can hold their own against anyone. We know what we want to do. We're very focused.”

EMOTION – “It's an ongoing challenge for me and I want to improve constantly. I have a great team to work with and I try to get the best out of the players available to me. There's always emotion on my side and I want to see emotions from my players too.”

FOOTBALL PHILOSOPHY – “I like creating the right conditions for my players to express their full potential. We have four center-backs with different skill sets, so I have to find the right way to get them performing at their best. They all have a part to play. Roma have a clear identity and an excellent coach but difficult things can be all the more beautiful.”

ENTHUSIASM – “We want to try and ride this wave of enthusiasm that's building up. It's not always going to be easy but we want to make our fans proud. We want a team that plays with energy, intensity and quality.”

OLIMPICO CAULDRON - “We know what we're going into tomorrow. Some of the guys will be experiencing it for the first time. We've prepared to perform at our best and we have everything we need to do so.”

KEAN AND NEW SIGNINGS - “We have four attacking players for three positions. We've got [Rolando] Mandragora back too. Moise's fitness is fine. We have to be good at switching between the different phases of the game.”

BUILD-UP – “When there's a game approaching, what happens before and after is erased and you focus on the present. We have the quality to stifle their threat and bring our own game to the fore. We want a big performance.”

READING THE GAME – “We've done a lot of preparation work with the team we know the game plan we want to implement. We must be good at reading the different moments of the game and understanding our opponents.”
