Nicolussi Caviglia speaks to the press

Hans Nicolussi Caviglia was officially unveiled as a Fiorentina player during a media conference at Viola Park on Wednesday.

Here's a selection of his quotes:

On joining Fiorentina: “This opportunity came up and I'm happy to be here in this place. I like golf and it's similar to football in many ways: you have to focus on the present and on your technique. If you're completely focused on what you're doing, everything else comes as a result.”

On Moise Kean: “I have a brilliant relationship with Kean. We've known each other since we were kids and we have a very strong bond. I'm happy we'll get to play together this season. He's a great guy. I'm pleased he's doing so well – he deserves it.”

On his shirt number: “14 is important to me for various reasons. It's the day my sister was born and the number [Johan] Cruyff wore. He revolutionized the game and was inspirational. I follow some of his ideas in life and in football, such as discipline and creativity.”

On his position: “I'm a central midfielder, whether it's a two or a three in a deep-lying role. I've played with [Nicolo] Fagioli before. He's supremely talented when it comes to playing the final ball. I like playing with him. We complement each other. A playmaker is not just a position, it's a specific task. It means playing an active role in building play and most importantly, playing the ball forward – to our forwards especially. I'm always focused on my day-to-day work on the pitch. I'll try to do my bit. The coach has a range of different skill sets to choose from and that's obviously an advantage. Last season I became more of a leader and played a central role. Sadly the season didn't end well but it's an experience I can learn from.”

On his relationship with Alfred Duncan: “We struck up a fantastic understanding on and off the pitch. We played to each other's strengths. He gave me some pointers about Florence. I'm very fond of him.”

On the Conference League: “The Conference League is definitely an extra incentive and having more games to play is a plus. It's going to be great to play in Europe. Fiorentina have shown they're capable of going all the way to the final and we'll try to do it again this year.”
