Ranieri, Mandragora, Piccoli strike down Jagiellonia

A superb second-half display saw Fiorentina secure a solid first-leg advantage in their Conference League play-off against Jagiellonia Bialystok.

After a goalless first half, the Viola took the lead after the restart when Luca Ranieri – wearing the captain's armband this evening – headed in Jacopo Fazzini's cross to the back post.

The hosts almost found an equalizer shortly before the hour mark but Bartlomiej Wdowik's effort fortunately came back off the post.

A few minutes later it was 2-0 as Rolando Mandragora's curled a brilliant free kick into the top corner.

Roberto Piccoli then wrapped up the scoring from the penalty spot with ten minutes remaining, after drawing a foul in the box himself.

The result puts Paolo Vanoli's side in a strong position going into next Thursday's second leg at the Stadio Franchi, when they will need to finish the job to reach the last 16.
