Mastantuono: "Ready to fight for this club"

Franco Mastantuono gave his first interview to our media team after completing his move from Real Madrid.

Last season the 18-year-old attacking midfielder - the youngest player ever to appear for the senior Argentina team - played 35 games for Real Madrid and scored three goals.

How do you feel about your first day in Florence?

“It's a very special day for me. I really wanted to come here and I like it a lot."

Why did you choose Fiorentina?

“It's a club with a great history. I was excited about playing for such an important club.”

What's your first impression of Rocco B Commisso Viola Park?

“It's amazing, a beautiful training center. The people here are very nice and friendly and that puts you at ease.”

Have you met your new team-mates?

“Yes, I've met a few of them. They were all really nice and that made me happy.”

Have you spoken to the coach?

“Yeah, I spoke to the boss and he's given me a great welcome. I hope to be able to train soon so that I can play.”

What are your best qualities and what areas of your game would you like to improve?

“I'm an attacking player who likes to get into the box. I'd like to improve the defensive side of my game. I know we do a lot of work on that in Italy and I think it's a good thing. It's an area I'd like to improve in.”

Lots of Argentines have turned out for Fiorentina before you. Do you know any of them?

“Sure. I spoke to some of them and they said I should come here. They told me lots of good things about this club. That's another reason why I wanted to join Fiorentina.”

Are you ready to start?

“Absolutely ready.”

Do you have a message for the fans?

“Thanks for the love you showed me when I arrived yesterday. You should know that you've welcomed a player who will fight to help achieve our goals.”
