Marco Brescianini was interviewed following Fiorentina’s training session on Tuesday. Here’s what the 26-year-old had to say:
Even at the end of the training session, you were still playing with great intensity, winning headers, taking shots and putting in crosses.
“We’re only just getting started, so there's naturally a bit of fatigue. All of we players need to show willingness for he team. We’ve started off with the right attitude, we want to have a great season, and we’ll do whatever we can for the club.”
You're now into the ninth day of pre-season, and soon you'll head into the second phase of preparations in the UK. How’s everything going? What’s the bedding-in period with the new coach been like?
“It’s been really positive. You can see that the coach is really hungry and motivated, and he's passing all of his ideas onto us. Now we'll have this short spell in England, then we'll go to Austria, where we'll test ourselves against other teams. This will be important for us as it’ll help get us into shape ahead of the league season.”
How are the new signings and the younger players settling in?
“It’s going swimmingly. They've fitted into the squad really quickly, and you can already see it in the way they play. They're intelligent guys, and I think that helps them integrate more easily. Anyway, in football there's only one language. Of course, as I touched upon before, we’ve still got to get to know all of the coach's idea even better, but I reckon we're making good progress.”
What are your personal demands for this season? It’s going to be a special campaign for the club, as it’s Fiorentina’s centenary year.
“It’s a historic season, indeed. As a team, we definitely want to do very well because we’ve got the right mentality. Personally, I always try to improve with every day that goes by and I always want to add things to my game.”
