As we head into 2026 and the midway point of the season, Fiorentina general manager Alessandro Ferrari spoke to the club's media to take stock of the current situation.
We've reached the end of the year and there are two games left in the first half of the Serie A season. How's it going and how do we get through a period like this?
“We all need to understand the situation we're in and change direction. We're dealing with this situation with the support of the Commisso family and we must keep working day in, day out to get Florence and Fiorentina back where they belong. We want to start the new year at a different pace and with different results.”
What are the good signs you see?
“Since Paolo Vanoli has come in, certain things have improved. The numbers point to that – both on a fitness level and a technical level. For example, Fiorentina have moved up to fifth in Serie A for the number of chances create and possession. The stats say we're moving in the right direction but now besides the statistics we need results. We must all focus solely on that.
“We've introduced a media blackout and that's not to disrespect anyone but merely to help us concentrate on our work at Viola Park and the matches we have to play.”
How will you approach 2026 and the January transfer window?
“We're going into 2026 determined and with very clear ideas. We've set ourselves some objectives. We think that with seven wins and eight draws we can stay up. We have to focus on one game at a time without looking at the league table – just think about getting those seven wins and eight draws. That's the plan and we must keep it in mind at all times. We're on the same page as the coach.
“January will be very important because we must make the most of this transfer window to bring in some new faces.”
