Wilfried Gnonto gives his first interview as a Viola player to www.acffiorentina.com.
This is the start of a new adventure for you at Fiorentina.
“I’m delighted to be here. It’s an honor for me to join Fiorentina. I couldn't wait to get started.”
You’re the youngest goalscorer for the Italian national team. You came through the academy at Inter and you've played in England and Switzerland. Now you’ve come back to Italy, where you grew up.
“I’ve come back but this is my first experience in Serie A at senior level. To be able to do that at a club like Fiorentina is a source of pride for me. I can’t wait to get out there and get to know all my team-mates.”
You've acquired a wealth of experience in the last few seasons and shown what you can do.
“Yes, I'm young but I've had lots of different experiences which have helped me to grow and improve. Now I want to show what I can do in Italy.”
Have you met the president [Giuseppe] Commisso and the coach [Fabio] Grosso?
“Yes, I’ve met most people. Everyone’s welcomed me very warmly. They’re all really nice people and all very happy to see me. I hope to repay their faith on the pitch. I want to show them how passionate I am and how keen I am to do well here.”
How fired up are you?
“I’m raring to go. I really wanted to come here and I’m happy. Now comes the best part. I know what I have to give. I know what my strengths are and I want to put them at the service of the team, the coach and everyone here.”
