On a day of celebrations for the club's centennial, Fiorentina Women defeated Ternana 3-1 to reignite their hopes of qualifying for the next round of the Serie A Women’s Cup, with Ilse Van Der Zanden, Emma Snerle and Emilie Woldvik scoring the goals at Rocco B. Commisso Viola Park's  Stadio Curva Fiesole.

At the end of a quiet first half, the Viola flipped the switch on the match with two goals before the break. In the 42nd minute Sofie Bredgaard sent in an inch-perfect free kick for Ilse Van der Zanden to head in the opener. Then two minutes later Emma Faerge linked up well with Bredgaard on the edge of the box and the No.44 put in a powerful delivery for the onrushing Emma Snerle to steer home.

Ternana came out reinvigorated after the break and two minutes into the half Lina Yang seized on a Viola mistake and halved the deficit.

Fiorentina didn't lose their way, however, and midway through the half Oda Johansen very nearly made it 3-1, only to be denied by a prodigious intervention by Katja Schroffenegger.

As the game entered stoppage time, Van der Zanden's cross found Emilie Woldvik and the substitute headed past Schroffenegger to seal the points.

Fiorentina Women will be back in action next Saturday, September 5, when they travel to the capital to face Roma.
