The matchday 34 game between Fiorentina and Sassuolo ended in a 0-0 draw. The point earned by the Viola still gives the team a good distance from the relegation zone, as well as one more than Cremonese this week.
Fiorentina got their first chance in the 20th minute: Dodo drove forward on the right flank, came close to the opponent’s box and found Albert Gudmundsson, whose backheel flick shot went just wide. The Viola had another major chance in the 32nd minute, once again on the right flank with Jack Harrison who crossed it to the middle, Gudmundsson failed to reach the ball, Manor Solomon did but his effort was not on target. The first half came to an end with few chances but with the hosts certainly trying harder to score and creating some problems for Stefano Turati.
In the 50th minute Dodo hit Sassuolo on the counter and found Fiorentina’s number 10 in the middle, but his finish was blocked at the last second. The Brazilian made another effort in the 54th minute from outside the box, but Sassuolo’s goalkeeper denied him with a remarkable save. Sassuolo then got their chance in the 59th minute as Armand Lauriente crossed it and found Andrea Pinamonti, whose effort hit the far post. Nicolo Fagioli beat Sassuolo’s defense in the 84th minute, but his finish was imprecise. Fiorentina came close to taking the lead in the 88th minute, as Pietro Comuzzo took a shot from the edge of the box, which however went just wide of the post.
