Fiorentina Women were on the receiving end of a disappointing result at Rocco B. Commisso Viola Park on Sunday as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sassuolo in their first match of the Serie A Women’s Cup.

Pablo Pinones Arce's team produced a solid display and Sofie Bredgaard scored to cancel out Katja Skupien's opener but Sassuolo's Polish goalscorer then turned provider for Paola Fadda to net a late winner.
