“It was a tough game because of the pitch conditions. It was a real task to get control of the ball, so we needed to do well at fighting for second balls and embracing a more physical and scrappy game.

“We conceded after 20 seconds in the second half, but we reacted really well and did well overall. Today’s game was a potential banana skin, especially when you bear in mind the pitch and how good they are as a team. The stadium was packed out with their fans, too. Playing away in Europe is never easy so we’re really happy with the result.

“We’ve got Inter next and there’s nothing better than facing top teams. It fires you up and there can be no excuses of tiredness or anything because the game is a thrilling prospect.”
