Edin Dzeko shared his thoughts after scoring the second goal in Fiorentina's 3-0 win over Rapid Wien in the UEFA Conference League.
What does this win do for Fiorentina?
“Winning is always good. It helps the mood. We're all a lot happier now. It's never easy to win away from home in Europe but we played well today. Hopefully this 3-0 win will give us more confidence for the next one.”
Your goal largely killed the game off at 2-0.
“Yeah, the second goal was important. In Serie A we've taken the lead before but not been able to see it out. The second goal today gave us a bit more confidence that we could go on to win it. At 1-0 your opponents are pushing and there's always the chance of a goal coming from somewhere. At 2-0 we were more relaxed and then we got the third to wrap it up.”
You made a bit of Conference League history today by becoming the oldest player to score in the competition, aged 39.
“I was told that earlier but I didn't know it before. It's always nice to score and even more so in Europe. Hopefully I can score a few more when I'm even older!”
You still move like a youngster in the box...
“This is my job. It's what I've been doing for 20 years and I've scored lots of goals. Today [Niccolo] Fortini put in a great ball so the credit is shared with him.”
