Here’s some of what Valentino Angeloni had to say following Fiorentina’s 3-0 win in Bulgaria over Septemvri Sofia in the second leg of their UEFA Youth League game:

“The lads did great across both legs. We’d already got off to a great start in the first leg, and today was a test of maturity, as the coach had said. The players did really well and got a deserved win. Fiorentina has never made the third round of the Youth League, so it makes the lads, the academy and the whole club delighted.

“It’s a big step forward because it gives us the chance to compete at a higher level. It’s really important for the players’ growth, and we’re over the moon with this.

“Our aim is to go as far as possible and face a variety of clubs. Teams can’t help but grow when competing at this level, because you have to travel and deal with different situations. We’ll see how far we can go, but as always, our aim is to improve and for our players to keep on developing.”
