Nicolo Fagioli's shares his views after Fiorentina put their first points on the Serie A board with a win at Venezia.

We could talk about individuals but Fiorentina really were the best team today.

“Yes, at last! Everybody expected good things when we started pre-season then we got off to a terrible start. We were all gutted about that but the main thing is we've turned a new leaf today. We started looking like a team, going the extra yard for our team-mates – which is what we should have been doing before, but we players were at fault. We finally saw that today.”

We saw you putting in a real shift defensively too.

“On the ball I think I have some good qualities which I need to improve a lot, and defensively I need to improve even more – that's something the coach kept drumming into me last season. It's something I need to keep working on every day, in every training session and every match.”

What has Paolo Vanoli done since coming back?

“He came in earlier this week and wasted no time putting us in our place with a two-footed challenge – but it was only right after our awful start. He insisted on us being a team and building an identity. We saw that today but it's only the start of what we can do.”
