Fazzini: "I always hoped to play at the Franchi"

Jacopo Fazzini spoke of fulfilling a childhood dream as he was unveiled to the media as a Fiorentina player on Friday.

Here's a selection of the midfielder's quotes:

CHILDHOOD MEMORIES – “I've always hoped to get the chance to play at the Franchi. I've been a fan since I was a kid. I'd come to games with my family. The one I remember most vividly was when we beat Juventus 4-2. I always tried to learn from the Fiorentina midfielders of those times – players likes [David] Pizarro and Borja Valero.”

POSITION – “I've been playing in the hole in training but the boss wants everyone to be able to play in different positions. I'm ready to play wherever I'm needed.”

ATTRIBUTES – “I like running at opponents, dropping in to receive the ball and trying to set up team-mates and score myself. I can adapt to whatever is needed in a particular match, whether it's going forward or defending.”

MATURITY – “I feel mature and ready to have my say in Serie A. The Italian league is as good as any other but we need to develop our young players.”

LAST SEASON – “There were some difficult moments, especially when I got injured, but I think it helped me a lot. It made me learn from my mistakes. After I got over my fitness problems, I had a strong finish to the campaign and that was great for my confidence.”

TARGETS - “I'd rather keep my personal targets to myself for now. As for our targets as a team, we want to raise the bar. I can't wait to get started.”

NEW CHALLENGE – “I'm not afraid of this new challenge. I'm looking forward to seeing the fans at the stadium.”

ESPOSITO – “Sebastiano is a great guy. We're good friends and we often speak but we don't talk about transfers. Everyone has to make their own choices.”

GUDMUNDSSON – “Albert is a fantastic player. I think we're similar in some ways but he's a more attacking player. I like skillful footballers like him. I'm excited about playing alongside him.”

MODRIC – “[Luka] Modric is one of my idols and one of the best midfielders in the world. I try to learn something all my team-mates and opponents. I'm looking forward to playing against him.”
