Comuzzo after win over Hellas Verona

Fiorentina defender Pietro Comuzzo was interviewed following Fiorentina’s win over Verona on matchday 31 of the 2025/26 Serie A season.

Fiorentina secured three precious points tonight.

“These three points are crucial, also considering Cagliari’s match this afternoon and the period in general. Picking up these three points tonight was what mattered most. It was a tough game and we suffered a lot, but we suffered as a team. We eventually took the lead and were able to stay sharp until the end.”

It wasn’t a beautiful match to watch, but you did what you needed to do to win.

“We were able to suffer. They had many chances, many corner kicks, but we kept up and didn’t concede. And we did it as a team. We need to keep playing as we did tonight. Of course, there is room for improvement: we can try to create more in our next games. But again, these three points are the best Easter present we could hope for.”

You helped your team throughout the whole match.

“I’ve always said that regardless of where the coach plays me, I’ll always give it my all, even when I’m completely exhausted. I’m always there to assist the rest of my team because the team is what matters most. I’m happy, we’re all happy.”

The senior national team didn’t do well, but you did great with the U20 team.

“The U20 games were a positive experience for me and Cher [Ndour]. We played two good matches and then returned here eager to give it everything and overcome the difficult run we’ve been in since the start of the season. We’re slowly recovering. We all know that we must stay focused and keep pushing. We’re not out of the woods yet. We must treat every match like a final.”

On Thursday you will face Crystal Palace.

“Yes, now we can be fully focused on the Conference League. We have two matches ahead of us against a good team, first in London and then in Florence. Just like in the league, we’ll do our best to get as far as we can in the Conference League too. It’d be great to win a trophy, of course. We’ll take it one match at a time.”
