Beto Betuncal spoke to us the day after completing a deadline-day move from Everton.

Welcome to Fiorentina!

“Thanks. I'm really happy to be here, at a historic club like this. I can't wait to get stuck in.”

You've come from the Premier League but you have previous experience in Serie A and did well at Udinese.

“Yes, I really enjoyed my time in Serie A and I'm looking forward to playing here again.”

Did you know any of your team-mates before coming here?

“Not personally but I'd met a lot of them on the pitch so I was familiar with them.”

I'm sure you're aware of the passion of the Fiorentina fans?

“I am and it's always a huge boost when you have such passionate support. They have an incredible sense of belonging. I have to show I'm up to playing here.”

Have you looked around Viola Park?

“Yeah, I had a look round yesterday and it's just amazing – the best training ground I've ever seen! It's perfect.”
